Community hike — Nordmarka forest hike with Denis (co-hosted pilot)

First time at one of these? Here's what it's like.

First time hosted with a community member (Denis) — treat it as a pilot.

Coming? RSVP here

Checking RSVPs…

Someone in the group (Denis) reached out with the idea for a relaxed hike through Nordmarka, and put together basically the whole plan on his own!

Really appreciate the initiative, so I'm helping get it organized and out there.

This is a pilot for Denis and for this event. It's the first time we're running a hike like this, since the last one (by Iren) got postponed due to bad weather.

Tuesday 28 July. Meeting at Nationaltheatret Station at 11:00 — we'll take the metro out to Frognerseteren together (about 30 minutes), where the hike starts.

IMPORTANT:
You can find the WhatsApp group, where we will be giving live updates, here. It's in the links section of the website: Room for More

The route

From Frognerseteren we walk past Lille Tryvann and Store Tryvann, with views over Oslo Winter Park, before stopping at Tryvannstua for coffee or something sweet.

After that we head back to Frognerseteren, where anyone who wants can grab a drink or dessert at Frognerseteren Restaurant before we take the metro back into the city (those of us who are going that way).

About 10km round trip, relaxed pace, easy difficulty. Should take somewhere between 3 and 4 hours all together, depending on how long we end up sitting at Tryvannstua and afterwards.

The idea started as a way for people (anyone) who have some free time that day to get out into Oslo's forest and connect with others. It's for everybody, and we have never been disappointed by the attendees, as they are basically universally nice people. So you can come alone as well and hopefully end up with some new friends.

Bring comfortable walking shoes, water or a snack, and clothes for whatever the weather does.

Coming alone is normal. We'll make sure no one walks alone.

Cost: free. You just pay for your own food or drink if you get something at Tryvannstua or Frognerseteren Restaurant.

When / where: Tuesday 28 July, meeting 11:00 at Nationaltheatret Station — we travel out to Frognerseteren (0791 Oslo) together by metro, then the hike starts.

Language: English, and Norwegian depending on who shows up.

Questions? Comment on the Meetup event and we'll get back to you.

One last thing: we are Room for More, a community run by Martin Indrebø Skovli. My goal is to improve the social life of people in Oslo, as I wish someone had done for me.
