Most events stay free. If you want to help cover the events and the site, you can give once or monthly below. It is optional, it buys nothing, and it never changes whether you're welcome here.

Both are off unless you switch them on. Leave the name blank and you're counted but never named. I check every name before it appears, and you can ask me to take it down whenever you like. A monthly gift shows how long you've been giving rather than a running total, so nobody ends up ranked by money.
A monthly gift is not the membership and doesn't turn into one, whatever you set it to. Stop it whenever you like.

Why this page exists
Room for More exists to make it easier to meet people in Oslo, not to make money off the fact that it's hard. Nobody pays to be reachable: being found by people you met, answering a contact request, and sharing your info are free for everyone, always. The membership starts at 40 kr a month and includes sending requests and hosting meetups past the free three.
When something does cost money, I try to base it on what it actually costs to put on. Gifts, memberships, and paid events all help make the events better and keep the free parts free.
What support goes towards
Running this costs real money, and most of it is unglamorous. The website and the domain, the Meetup subscription, the database that holds your account and RSVPs, and the thing that sends login links and reminders all turn up every month.
Then there are the physical things that make a night work: a room when we need one, games, printing, and a sign so you can find us in a bar you have never been to before.
Nobody is asked to give anything here. Turning up is fantastic and that is really what all of this is for.
What I'm building towards
First, help with the parts I'm honestly not good at: legal work, insurance, paperwork, and accounting. None of that is exciting, but I'm handling other people's money and I want to do it properly.
Then people to help run it: hosting nights, admin, partnerships, and answering messages. A few people already help for free, and at some point I'd really like to pay them instead of asking for favours.
The thing I care most about is paying the people who host, including the free events. If someone runs good evenings week after week and people go home feeling better, that is worth paying for even if nothing was taken at the door.
I don't have numbers or dates for any of that yet. It is simply what I want the money to make possible.
The people who chipped in
In the order they started, earliest first. What anybody gave never changes where they sit, and a monthly gift shows as how long rather than how much.
Only the people who asked to be here, and an amount only where somebody chose to show it. Membership isn't on this list at all, because it's a purchase and this is a thank-you for gifts.
Transparency
As of 30 August, one gift has come in: 100 kr, given once on 12 August. That is the full donation total for this dated update. When there is enough activity for a useful cost breakdown, I will put on the updates page what came in and what it paid for, without dressing it up.
Accounts, on-site RSVPs, and connections between people who met at the same event are all live now, and so are community-created meetups. Progress lands on the updates page as new pieces firm up. The principle stays the same throughout: nobody pays to be reachable, and the gifts and the membership both exist to keep the free parts free.
Your data
Stripe handles the payment. I never see your card number. I keep a record of the donation (email and amount) so the books stay honest. More in the privacy page.
