Trall is a music bar in Bernt Ankers gate, and the guy who runs it, Luis, is properly obsessed with sound. The speakers in there are genuinely good, not bar-good, and he plays music at you even if you just wander in off the street. I have been in there watching football and spent most of it thinking we should do something in that room.
So on Thursday we are.
The idea is that everybody brings one song. We put them on his system one at a time, and whoever picked it says a sentence or two about why. That's the whole thing. Nobody is performing and it is not a concert, it is a normal social evening with a reason for people to talk to each other, which is usually the hard part.
You get to hear your song properly, probably better than you have ever heard it at home. And you find out things about people that you would never get to in normal small talk.
Bring something you love, or something embarrassing, or something nobody else will know. All three work.
One honest thing: I am still landing the exact shape with Luis. The song idea is what I want and what I have asked him for. If he would rather we ran a music quiz on the big screen instead, then that is what we do, and it will be a good night either way. I will update this page the moment it is settled and say so in the WhatsApp group.
When and where
Thursday 20 August, from 19:00. Trall Bar & Kulturscene, Bernt Ankers gate 21, which is a couple of minutes from Youngstorget and right by Tilt where we usually end up on the crawl.
We normally go until around 22:00, and you can come and go whenever suits you.
What it costs
Free to join. You buy your own drinks at the bar, same as at the mingle and the crawl.
Age
It is a bar, so there is an age limit at the door. I am confirming exactly what it is and will put it here as soon as I know. If you are under 20, message me before you head out so you do not have a wasted trip.
Coming alone
Come alone if you want, most people do. I will be there, and if you turn up not knowing anyone, find me and I will introduce you to someone.
