Thursday indoor tennis with Gustav

First time at one of these? Here's what it's like.

Get your ticket

Which ticket?

That's what actually reserves your spot, checkout runs through Stripe. Your ticket arrives by email straight after, with a link you can keep and show on the day.

Checking RSVPs…

Two hours of indoor tennis, with people who are there for the company as much as the tennis.

WHAT HAPPENS

We play doubles and rotate every ten minutes, so you're swapping partners and opponents all evening rather than getting stuck in one match. However you play is fine. This isn't a club session, nobody's keeping score, and people help each other out.

Eight of us on one court means you're playing roughly half the time and sitting and chatting the other half. That's the trade for it being cheap and social, and we keep it to eight rather than cramming more in so you actually get a decent amount of play.

We're doing this every Thursday for now. Gustav is hosting this one, and Gustav is the reason there was a tennis night at all in July, when the outdoor court got rained off and the whole thing moved indoors the same evening.

We speak English and Norwegian, whichever suits whoever turns up.

WHEN AND WHERE

Thursday 27 August, 18:00 to 20:00, Oslo Tennisarena, Eikenga 4. We meet in the lobby at 17:45 and go to the court together.

Indoors, so the weather doesn't matter at all.

WHAT IT COSTS

150 kr if you bring your own racket, 200 kr if you need one. Pick which when you buy. The 150 is the court split between us, and the extra 50 is the racket, which we sort out with the arena so there's nothing to pay on the night.

It's a flat price whether four of us turn up or eight, which is why it isn't exactly the cost per person on a full night.

WHAT TO BRING

Tennis shoes with a clean sole, and something to drink. The arena is strict about shoes, so no running shoes on the court.

SOMETHING TO BE AWARE OF

Play within your own limits and warm up a bit. It's a social game and a pulled calf isn't worth it.

Eight of us on the court, seven tickets on sale. If fewer than four of us have a ticket by Wednesday evening I'll call it off and refund everyone, so grab one early if you're coming.

RSVP

You buy the ticket on the website, there's nothing to sort out on the night:

Come alone if you want, most people do, and however much tennis you have played you are warmly welcomed.
