Things to do in Oslo alone

Maybe you just moved here, maybe your friends are busy, or maybe you simply like doing things on your own. Oslo is honestly one of the better cities for that. Nobody looks twice at someone eating alone, hiking alone, or sitting in a café with a book. But there's a difference between enjoying your own company and only ever having your own company, so this page has both: things that are genuinely good solo, and the easiest way to be around people when you feel like it.

Genuinely good on your own

A fjord sauna at Langkaia or Sukkerbiten, with a cold dip if you're brave. The Deichman library at Bjørvika, which is worth an afternoon even if you don't read a page. The walk up the Akerselva river from Grønland to Nydalen. The museums out at Bygdøy. In summer, a swim at Sørenga. In winter, take the metro up to Frognerseteren and just walk back down. None of this needs company, a plan, or good weather courage beyond the sauna one.

When you want people around

That's the part I host. Room for More runs free weekly events built specifically so you can show up alone, starting with board games on Mondays at No Stress, where sitting down at a table of strangers is the whole point, not an awkward moment to get through. The rest of the week keeps going: an after-work mingle on Wednesdays, a pub crawl on Fridays, and an outdoor workout on Saturdays if you'd rather meet people on the move. I get it, that first five minutes is the hard part. So I wrote down exactly what an evening is like: how to find us, what happens, and when you can leave (whenever you want).
